Volvo says that all off-warranty cars from all model years are eligible for the lifetime warranty on parts and labor.
LIFETIME WARRANTY ON PARTS AND LABOR AIMS TO ATTRACT OFF-WARRANTY CARS
Volvo is rolling out a new lifetime warranty on parts and labor for all vehicles serviced at the dealership after the factory warranty runs out. That means that once a car is off warranty and something goes wrong, the owner will pay for the initial replacement of the parts on vehicles whose factory warranty has expired. But if that part ever fails again, all replacements and repairs will be free. Volvo is calling this the "Pay Once and Never Pay Again" warranty.
With this warranty, Volvo is hoping to give an incentive to owners of their cars to have them serviced at the dealership, rather than going to an independent shop where labor costs tend to be cheaper.
The warranty applies to Volvos of all model years but excludes wear items like brake pads, as well as accessories. In addition to the labor and parts warranty, the dealerships will also offer free software updates (for cars that use software), loaner cars, a free car wash and free diagnostics.

We think we've found a way to stump Volvo service departments. This way is called the 343DL, and it has a Variomatic CVT.
"The lifetime parts and labor warranty is a commitment to both quality vehicles and quality customer relationships," Volvo Cars of North America CEO Lex Kerssemakers said in a statement. "Everyone should feel confident that Volvo is here to support our customers throughout the ownership of their vehicle."
Volvo says that the warranty applies to Volvos of all model years, but we have a feeling there are a few cars here and there that Volvo service departments might want to shy away from. Yes, we were thinking that sourcing parts for a DAF-made Volvo from the 1970s, the one equipped with a CVT, may prove to be something best done at a very niche specialty shop with deep connections in Holland.
But for slightly more common models, the warranty may make a bit more sense.
